Handmade Kitchen Pendant Lighting

Kitchen Pendant Lighting for Considered Interiors

The kitchen has become one of the most scrutinised rooms in a home — every surface, fitting and detail examined for coherence. Lighting, in particular, has moved well beyond its purely functional role.
Lyngard's fine bone china pendant lights are made for kitchens and dining spaces where both matter: where the light over an island or above a table needs to perform as well as it looks.
Why Fine Bone China Works in a Kitchen

Each pendant is formed from fine bone china — a material that diffuses rather than directs, casting a softness into the room rather than a harsh downward wash.
The fittings are solid brass, weighted and considered in proportion. They work as a single statement piece or in a paired or grouped run, sized and finished to sit at ease in both period and contemporary kitchens.

All pieces are handcrafted to order in our Stoke-on-Trent factory — manufactured and assembled in England, hand-finished to specification. Trade enquiries are welcomed.
FAQS
What makes fine bone china suited to pendant lighting in a kitchen?
Fine bone china is translucent, which means it transmits light rather than simply reflecting it. In a pendant, this produces a diffused, even glow — warm without being dim, present without being harsh. In the kitchen, where lighting has to work across cooking, dining and ambient settings, this quality makes bone china shades unusually versatile.
How many pendants should I use above a kitchen island?
This depends on the length of the island and the scale of the shade. As a general guide, pendants are typically hung in runs of two or three, spaced evenly and centred on the surface below. We are happy to advise on grouping and positioning as part of a trade or residential enquiry — our team can review plans and suggest arrangements suited to the room.
Can Lyngard pendants be specified for professional projects?
Yes. Lyngard works with interior designers, architects and residential developers on specification projects. We offer trade pricing, extended lead-time planning and, in many cases, the ability to adapt flex length — to meet project requirements. Please contact us directly to begin a trade enquiry.
Are these lights made in Britain?
Every Lyngard light is made by hand in Stoke-on-Trent, England — a city with a ceramic tradition that spans centuries. The fine bone china used in our shades is formed and finished in the same region, within our British ceramics factory. We do not outsource manufacture. Made-in-Britain provenance is central to what we do, not incidental to it.
